We Are a Feeling Universe

Have you ever had a personal life experience that seemed kind of “out of this world?” If you have, I’d love to hear about it.

I’ve always been one to look to the supernatural – for what, I’m not sure, but one thing for certain, you can always find me seeking out a card reader to tell my fortune. Ha Ha.  Yeah, that’s me. I even thought about getting into the business myself.

I’ve always felt there is something more than what’s here in this life, but never could come to the conclusion of what that might be. I believe that is our purpose in life is to become the best version of ourselves that we can become. I also have a hard time believing it’s all for nothing – that at the end of the day, our struggles, our sufferings, our climb up the ladder of life experience, is nothing more than an exercise in futility.

And then there is God. His teachings. The promise of another land. But who knows? Who really knows?

I believe strongly in Almighty God, Jesus and the Blessed Virgin as the icons the Catholic Church makes them out to be. I didn’t always, but life circumstances have corrected my beliefs and now you will find me giving them their due respect and with a great deal of honor and gratitude. Empath explores these concepts at varying points.

I’m not a big believer in organized religion of any kind, although I will say I believe they have their place and I believe that they can be the saving grace for many. I sincerely believe that while the words in the Bible might come from God, I also believe that they are translated through the veil of human experience. Hence, the many interpretations of the word. The many different religions. The many different belief systems.

I start off the novel with a quote, which goes like this:

“We are a feeling universe, rooted in pain, equipped with Band-Aids camouflaged as joy, hope, and promise – Band-Aids that are designed to provide temporary relief from everyday human suffering.”

It is my quote. I intend to touch on these points as time and thoughts permit, and with the intent of providing clarity as I’m not the preaching kind.
